The Ministry of Economic Affairs green trade promotion arm, Green Trade Project Office (GTPO), Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Environmental Manufacturers Association (TEMA) jointly organized the “Taiwan Sewage Treatment & Air Pollution Prevention Forum” at the IE Expo China 2018. IE Expo 2018 which took place from May 3rd to 5th in Shanghai is Asia’s leading environmental technology show.

Nearly 100 local leading companies, including investment companies, participated in the conference. After the meeting, in-depth discussions were conducted to give participants a glimpse of the technological strength of the Taiwan environmental protection industry.

Mainland China is the most important export market for Taiwan’s environmental protection industry. From 2015 to 2017, the annual growth rate of Taiwan’s export of environmental protection equipment to mainland China has been increasing year after year. Exports to China have accounted for more than one-fourth of the total industrial exports. In recent years, China has put a lot of focus on green industry. It has successively issued a number of environmental protection policies and accelerated the development of the environmental protection industry. The “13th Five-Year Plan” in Mainland China has driven the average annual growth rate of the environmental protection industry to 18%. It is estimated that the amount of investment in environmental pollution control during this period will be approximately 5.68 trillion RMB.

Speakers of this forum included Chairman Gao Gengzuan from Taiwan Environmental Manufacturers Association. He first introduced the latest environmental protection equipment and customization services in Taiwan. He stated his hope that Taiwanese manufacturers could be part of enriching environmental protection industry experience, provide high-quality products and patented technologies, and cooperate with Chinese mainland manufacturers to attract a number of mainland companies.

The speaker for Sparkler Far East Ltd, shared the company’s experience using high voltage & high frequency electric shock as a method for sewage treatment in Ningbo, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Malaysia. Desiccant Technology Co., Ltd. shared on the topic of Industrial Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Exhaust Treatment Technology and pollution prevention equipment through its extensive experience in R & D. These companies and semiconductor manufacturer such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., attracted many people to the forum.

Taiwan’s Passal Co., Ltd. cited their experience of equipment and technology for solid-liquid separation, dewatering of raw materials, and sludge dewatering for Minth Group, allowing Chinese manufacturers to see that Taiwan’s environmental protection industry can save customers nearly RMB 80,000 in one day. This caused local businesses to respond enthusiastically. The company exhibited its large-scale Fully-Auto Double-Membrane Filter Press in the Taiwan Pavilion set up by the Taiwan Environmental Manufacturers Association, which attracted a lot of interest from local companies.

The 2018 Taiwan Sewage Treatment & Air Pollution Treatment Forum was led by the Taiwan Environmental Manufacturers Association, and ten Taiwanese companies jointly established the “Taiwan Pavilion” to demonstrate the strength of Taiwan’s environmental protection equipment to Chinese people and visitors around the World.
